Port Hotels: Hong Kong
Nicknamed Asia’s World City, these are the areas I recommend staying the night before your cruise from Hong Kong, including some hotel options.
Remember, you always want to get to the port city at least a day before the cruise sets sail. Flying in in the morning is risky as your flight could be canceled or delayed, and the ship will not wait for you!

Tsim Sha Tsui
A major tourist and shopping hub on the Kowloon waterfront, home to the Avenue of Stars, museums, lots hotels, and stunning views of the Hong Kong skyline. Conveniently it’s also fairly close to the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. Kowloon and Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stations are both one stop away from the Central neighborhood across Victoria Harbour, where you’ll find the city’s gay bars and clubs.
W Hong Kong
If you plan on taking the Airport Express MTR (subway), the W is a great option as it’s located right above Kowloon station. Located by the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, the high-rise hotel has breathtaking views of the iconic Hong Kong skyline. There are tons to see and do in the area, including the Hong Kong Palace museum, Kowloon Park, Temple Street night market, and the funky Sky Corridor. Central station on Hong Kong Island is just one MTR stop away.
Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong
A budget option for those who will spend more time out and above exploring Hong Kong than in the hotel, this Holiday Inn is just steps away from the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, so getting around will be easy. Within walking distance is the Avenue of Stars, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and the entire Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront.
Central
Best known by most for luxury shopping and the location of the city’s iconic skyline, this is also where you’ll find Hong Kong’s gay bars and clubs.
Four Seasons Hong Kong
Usually I wouldn’t mention a Four Seasons - IYKYK - but the one in Hong Kong is on another level with multiple Michelin star restaurants under one roof. When in Hong Kong, you must try the cantonese cruisine, and Lung King Heen was the world’s first Cantonese restaurant to be awarded three Michelin stars. The Airport Express ends at the Hong Kong MTR station, which is linked to the International Finance Center (IFC) where the hotel is located. Nearby are the Hong Kong Observation Wheel, the famous Landmark high-end shopping center, and the gay bars and clubs.
The Pottinger Hong Kong
Super close to Central MTR station and the Landmark shopping center, all of the gay (and straight) bars and clubs in the area are within a 10 minute walk, which makes this a very convenient place to stay.
Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Causeway Bay
In the nearby Causeway Bay area is where you’ll find some of the gay-friendly saunas and massage parlors. The Crowne Plaza is close to those, as well as the Causeway Bay MTR.
